1. Remember that infringements of functioning of system of a charge far are not necessarily connected with generator refusals. First of all always make following elementary checks:
a. Check up a condition and effort of a tension приводного a generator belt (see the Head of Adjustment and car routine maintenance). In case of need make replacement;
b. Check up reliability of a tightening of fixing bolts of the generator;
c. Check up a condition of electroconducting and electric connections of the generator;
d. At a corresponding complete set check up a condition of the fusible insert established between the traction relay of a starter and the generator, or a condition of the big main safety locks in an impellent compartment. In case of revealing of the beaten out elements, reveal and eliminate the reason of taking place overloads, then replace defective components;
e. Check up a condition of all safety locks included in an electric chain of system of a charge (address to an illustration above). The site of safety locks and fusible inserts can vary depending on model and year of release of the car, however the system of designations thus remains invariable. To check are subject: the main fusible insert, fusible insert ALT (80А), fusible insert АМ1 (40А), fusible insert АМ2 (30А), safety lock IG2 (7.5А), safety lock GAUGE (10А) and safety lock ALT (7.5A);
f. Start the engine and estimate intensity of a noise background published by the generator;
g. Check up electrolit density in banks of the storage battery, in case of need make additional charge of last;
h. Make sure of completeness of a charge of the battery, – one faulty bank can be at the bottom of a battery recharge);
i. Disconnect from the battery at first negative, then positive wires. Estimate a condition of wires of the battery in places of their their connection to polar plugs of last. Check up reliability of fastening клеммных clips. Carefully having smoothed out contact plugs, connect the battery.
2. By means of the voltmeter measure the pressure which is given out by the battery at the muffled engine, – the result of measurement should make approximately 12 Century
3. Start the engine and repeat check: this time indications should make 13.5 – 15.1 Century
4. Include head headlights, at regularly functioning system of a charge pressure should fall at first, then be restored to former level.
5. If the size of measured pressure considerably exceeds rating value, replace a pressure regulator (the Section Check of serviceability of functioning of a starter and a start chain see).
6. At excessively low indications make checks of a regulator of pressure and the generator (see further).

7. Remove from the generator a back cover. Earth plug F (address to an accompanying illustration), start the engine and measure pressure of the battery. If the result of measurement exceeds admissible value, replace a regulator. At excessively low indications of the voltmeter drive away the car in a workshop of car-care centre for check of target parametres of the generator with ampermeter application. |

8. At presence near at hand the ampermeter check of target parametres of the generator can be made own forces of the motorist. Connect the ampermeter to system according to the scheme resulted on an accompanying illustration. |

Instead of the ampermeter it is possible to take advantage also of the inductive indicator of a current which always can be got cheaply enough in shops of automobile accessories. |
9. Lift turns of the engine to value 2000 in a minute and consider the ampermeter indication at the switched off onboard consumers of the electric power, then include a headlight and translate the heater fan in the maximum high-speed mode. Compare results of measurements to requirements of Specifications.
10. At excessively low indications make regenerative repair, or generator replacement. |
